The Macaulay Hut is located in a remote location up the Macaulay River.
To date I have not seen a more impressive hut, this is simply a great
hut in a great place, highly recommended.

This hut is maintained by the Mackenzie Alpine Trust and the local
Community and can be used by means of donation. If you wish you can
donate items to further improve the hut for the benefit everyone
The Macaulay River track is a fantastic route made up of 4X4 track and
river bed work where track sections have been washed away. The scenery
is amazing and the final destination offers a hut that to date one of
the best I have ever stayed in, Macaulay Hut. It is a great option for a weekend trip or a pit-stop point as part of a NZ tour.
The inside of this hut is decked out superbly in natural timber
A fire/oven stove, large kitchen bench and ample cutlery/pots/pans/crockery for cooking
